What this actually is

3D on the web earns its place when the product has variants a customer wants to see, or a space they want to walk through before committing. A ring with four settings and six stones. A pergola on a specific terrace. A machine with an interior nobody can photograph. Everywhere else it is a load-time problem wearing a costume, and we will tell you which one you have before quoting.

Configurators that close sales

The commercial case for 3D is almost always configuration. When a buyer can change the setting, rotate the stone and see it at real scale, the objection that normally sends them to a showroom disappears. We build the variant logic against your actual SKU structure so the configuration a customer lands on is one you can quote and manufacture, not a pretty combination that does not exist.

The weight problem, solved properly

A typical agency 3D scene ships eight megabytes of model and texture before anything appears. We compress geometry with Draco, textures with KTX2, stream what is needed for the first frame and defer the rest, and hold a hard budget on the total. Where the subject allows it we skip models entirely and describe the surface mathematically — that is what Vector is, and he is roughly four kilobytes.

What happens when WebGL is off

Around one in forty visitors will not render your scene: old hardware, locked-down corporate machines, reduced-motion settings, or a GPU driver that has given up. Those people get a static render and a working page rather than an empty box. Reduced-motion users get a held pose. Nobody is shown a broken hero.

Will a 3D website slow our site down?

It will if it is built carelessly. Ours are built to a frame and payload budget tested on a four-year-old Android, with the 3D isolated so it never blocks the rest of the page from rendering. If the budget cannot be met for your subject we say so rather than shipping something that costs you rankings.

Do we need existing 3D models?

It helps, and it lowers the price. If your manufacturer has CAD we optimise from that. If not, we model from photographs and dimensions, which adds one to three weeks depending on complexity.

Is 3D worth it for a small business?

Usually not, and we will say so. It earns its place when the product has real variants, a high price point, or a space people want to walk through. A local service business is almost always better served by spending the same money on page speed and Google Business Profile.

Does 3D content hurt SEO?

Not when the page is built correctly. The text, headings and structured data render server-side and are indexed normally; the 3D layer loads after. A configurator built as a single JavaScript blob with no server-rendered content will absolutely hurt you, which is why we do not build them that way.
